    Biography
    Lisa Rockford was raised in Palm Beach County, FL. She moved north to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Bachelor of Science in Art Therapy from Bowling Green State University (1999), and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2001).

    Since returning to Florida, Lisa has been a resident artist at Sailboat Bend Artist Lofts in Ft Lauderdale, and has been teaching Art classes at Broward College since 2006.

    Lisa has exhibited her artwork nationally since 1992.

    Lisa is thankful for a few factors that helped shape her as an artist:
    1. Her childhood…growing up without a lot of money, so that she made a lot of her own toys and games.
    2. Her mother who put creative tools in her hand as a babe.
    3. Her experience at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which exposed her to art she actually liked.
    4. Her father who gave her his wit and subject matter for her imagery.
    5. Her friends in high school and college whose actions gave her more subject-matter for her imagery.
    6. Her teaching experience that forced her to review the myths and legends that she ignored before, but which have inserted themselves into her paintings.

    Lisa's paintings create mocking hybridizations of iconic & pop imagery, and offer humorous and witty examinations of gender identity and cultural expectations of women.
